Elizabeth Gilbert, the ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ author, is calling it quits with her husband


Elizabeth Gilbert, 46, is bidding adieu to her husband José Nunes, after ten years together. The Eat, Pray, Love author revealed their heartbreaking separation via Facebook on July 1. Her 2006 memoir captured the hearts of many, chronicling her voyage around the world after her first divorce as she tried to find the simple pleasures in life.“Because I have shared details of my private life with you all so intimately over the years, I feel the need to share with you this recent change in my personal life,” Elizabeth wrote. “I am separating from the man whom many of you know as ‘Felipe’ – the man whom I fell in love with at the end of the Eat Pray Love journey.” She continued, “He has been my dear companion for over 12 years, and they have been wonderful years. Our split is very amicable. Our reasons are very personal.” Elizabeth requested that fans respect her privacy during this tough time, as “this is a story that I am living – not a story that I am telling.”The authors book remained on The New York Times Best Seller list for 187 weeks. Her 2010 movie featured A-list talent, starring Julia Roberts, 48, who played Elizabeth and Javier Bardem, 47, as the heartthrob Felipe. It was a major tear-jerker!Elizabeth’s story began with four months in Italy, just grubbing and not worrying about carbs, hence “eat.” Then, she spent three months in India, finding her spirituality, “pray.” Finally, she ended the year in Bali and fell in love with a Brazilian businessman. “Love!” On top of Elizabeth’s stellar talent in the film, 52-year-old Brad Pitt‘s company was also in charge of the production.To follow-up her popular novel, Elizabeth wrote the sequel Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage in 2010.
