Katy Perry puzzled for Hillary Clinton during the presidential election and on Tuesday night, Clinton showed herself to be a major Perry fan moreover.
The former Democratic presidential candidate appeared at the UNICEF Snowflake Ball in New York to present Perry with the Audrey Hepburn Humanitarian Award.
“I’ve gotten to spend time with her and I know how deeply she cares about making our world a better place,” said Clinton, who received a standing ovation. “She is serious about understanding the complex problems we face and pulling people together to solve them.”
“We need champions like Katy now more than ever, her passion, her energy and, yes, her voice, louder than a lion,” Clinton included.
Perry, who has been a UNICEF representative since 2013, was astonished and facetiously requested tissue to wipe her tears.
“I’ve always had a voice, a singing voice, but I’ve never had a voice like I’ve had before,” Perry said. “Hillary has lit that voice inside of me, and that light will never go out, it will continue to get brighter and brighter and brighter. Thank you, Hillary.”
Perry attended the event with her parents and boyfriend, actor Orlando Bloom, putting to rest recent rumors that the combine had part.
